This week, Y8 pupils have worked on a piece of drama (role-play) that has helped them to empathize with characters and the mood created at the start of the novel, 'Noughts and Crosses' by Malorie Blackman. This gripping read is set in a dystopian world where racial prejudice is a key theme. Their performances were peer assessed across 3 skills: voice projection, mood interpretation and team work. Student feedback after this session has been very positive: it has helped them to get to know some of the characters in more depth and it has helped them to understand the tension and mood that is present in the prologue. An impressive start, Y8!
