Sports Premium Allocation and Impact

The School Sport Premium is a government funded initiative to support the development of physical education in primary schools. As a middle school with children in Years 5 and 6, we are eligible for this funding and use it to enhance our already high quality provision for the maximum impact on the children at our school.

We currently provide 2 hours per week of high quality PE to all children as part of our normal school timetable.

We have an excellent record of involving the majority of our children in extra curricular sporting activities and the opportunity to represent the school at partnership sporting competitions and sporting events.

We further enhance the physical wellbeing and fitness levels of all our pupils by integrating a Daily Mile into our school day. In a recent Pupil Survey, 88% of pupils agreed that Bellingham Middle School encourages them to look after their physical health (Pupil Survey July 2019).

Many pupils also enjoy a further hour of physical activity through our enrichment programme options, such as orienteering, children's yoga, minority and unusual sports, English ceilidh dancing and Champions of Sport.

Please see below for how we use the School Sport Premium to further widen the range of physical education activities we have on offer at Bellingham Middle School, as well as to enhance the provision of additional opportunities to develop the social, emotional and personal skills which will serve them well in later life.
