Today we welcomed into school volunteers from the NE Ambulance Service to help us take part in the British Heart Foundation's Re-start the Heart day. Our year 6, year 7 and year 8 pupils received practical training in conducting CPR in case someone has a cardiac arrest. We understand that about 30,000 people a year in the UK suffer from cardiac arrests outside of hospital each year. If a bystander can conduct CPR promptly the surival chances of that person doubles. We hope that our children now have the confidence and expertise to be able to deliver CPR if it is ever needed.
The volunteers who delivered the workshops did a great job in encouraging our pupils to develop their skills and were very complimentary about how fantastic our pupils were during the day. Thank you very much to everyone involved in such a valuable learning experience.
