Grow £5 Enterprise Project

News

22nd May 2015

The Year 7 Arts & Crafts cafe took place on the afternoon of 22nd May.  The cafe was the finale to the Enterprise project called Grow £5 which is promoted by Virgin Money.  Each year 7 pupils was loaned £5 by Virgin Money to 'grow' by starting their own micro-business.

As part of the project the Year 7s had to work together, communicate effectively and come up with a business plan.  Their plans had to be researched for feasibility and cost.  They then had to get their plan approved by our 'Dragons' Den Dragons'.   During the project they had to market their business and keep track of their finances using spreadsheets and profit calculations.

The project has been a really positive experience and real problem solving skills were needed to make it a success.  The cafe made over £400 and the project as a whole made over £600.  The first decision made by the Year 7s about what to do with the money is to donate £200 of it to Macmillan Cancer Support.  Well done Year 7 - you make us all proud!
