Our Food technology department aims to stimulate a love of learning and a love of cooking healthy meals. We strive to ensure that all students make good progress and enjoy learning, becoming independent learners who have developed key life skills and can apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. We aim to enable pupils to recognize and resist poor food choices and to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
At Bellingham Middle School, we strongly believe that every child should have the opportunity to be able to cook a wide range of dishes, from a repertoire of predominantly savoury dishes, treats and bakes to healthy snacks and family meals. We will teach them to become competent in a range of cooking techniques and to understand the source, seasonality and characteristics of a broad range of ingredients. We aim to encourage the development of their skills and resilience in a safe and mutually kind and respectful environment, allowing students to demonstrate commitment and act upon feedback.
